A web app done in R with the Shiny framework for visualizing the online database Fatal Encounters, a crowd-sourced effort to document all deaths where police are present. Computes relative risks of police-involved death by race.

Net Neutrality: Fake Comments

report (May 2021)

An investigation into the 22 million comments filed online to the Federal Communications Commission’s proposed 2017 rule change regarding “net neutrality,” revealing a massive astroturfing campaign lead by the largest telecom companies in the United States. We found that 18 million of these comments had indications that they were fake.

A collaboration with Open Justice Baltimore to investigate the prevalence of Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force indicted officer testimony in State of Maryland judicial cases.

As part of a collaboration between DataKind and the National Press Foundation, I developed a R package that reads and cleans Payment Protection Program loans data released for 2020 for easy analysis.

Fentanyl Drug Checking Study

A Bloomberg American Health Initiative study of 335 people who use drugs in Baltimore, Boston, and Providence regarding their drug use and overdose history, experiences with fentanyl, and interest in drug checking.
